According to the Fresno Bee, a man calling himself Zodiac may have tried to kill a teacher with arsenic, police said Saturday. In 1969, Daniel Williams, a 24 year-old teacher from Richmond, CA, said he received calls over a 10-day period from a man who complained of headaches and said he was the Zodiac. In a muffled voice, the man said: "You're the dead duck." During the time period of the calls, someone broke into Williams home. Nothing was discovered missing and investigating officers left William's home. Williams took a drink from a soft drink bottle which had been opened, but spit the liquid out before swallowing -- the soda had "a metallic, taste." Lab tests police determined that the bottle contained more than enough arsenic to have proven fatal for whoever drank it.
